People who live in rural areas often do not have the option to purchase DSL high-speed Internet. Fortunately, though, they do have the benefit of being able to acquire satellite Internet.
There are several satellite Internet providers available to choose from, so if you’re looking to buy satellite Internet, it’s a good idea to do a bit of research on each provider before making a purchasing decision. Let’s take a look at dishNET, which is an Internet anywhere service offered by DISH, the well-known satellite TV programming provider.
How it Works
DishNET started being offered by DISH in 2012, and since its release, it has had much success and is well-known for providing Internet access anywhere. When you buy this form of Internet, a technician will come out and install a satellite dish on the outside of your home as well as hook up a satellite modem on the inside. You will not need a working telephone jack or number to use dishNET. The satellite modem will instead be connected to a cable line. When you want to use the Internet, you will simply open a browser on a computer or Wi-Fi device and the Internet service automatically starts sending signals through the modem to the outside dish, which then forwards the signal to a receiving station.
You probably know how frustrating it can be to get stuck with a slow Internet provider. With dishNET, however, you can get download speeds that are up to 10mbps. When compared to dial-up services, dishNET is nearly 100 times faster. Another great thing about dishNET is that you can bundle it with DISH digital TV for one monthly bill. Furthermore, dishNET is available in those remote areas that normally don’t have internet access.
There are data caps for the amount of data that you can use when using the Internet. More expensive packages will, however, provide you with larger amounts of data. Many people are able to stick with the lowest data plan, which is 10GBs a month, and have no problem staying within their limit. The only people that would need to purchase additional data would be those who want to download movies and/or a large amount music.
Customer support for dishNET is available 24 hour a day, 7 days a week. If you happen to near your data cap, the Internet download speed will be slowed down until the next month’s service starts. There are no overage fees. If you believe you will need more data on a monthly basis, it will be beneficial to contact customer support and upgrade your plan. If you think you will need extra data for one month only, it is possible for you to log into your DISH online customer account and purchase 1GB of data for $10.
